BECOME AN INDEPENDENT CAPTAIN...

Learn how to operate a boat under the guidance of an experienced instructor, on the open sea and in real-life situations. Learn the basics of navigation, proper docking, anchoring, knot tying, and safe sailing in rough waters. The course also includes time for independent sailing so you can truly solidify your skills. You can choose from a variety of boats and packages based on your needs.

Commands and Vessel Safety

This section provides a detailed overview of all the key controls on the vessel. You will learn how the throttle works, the importance and use of trim, and why the safety switch is essential. The locations and functions of the switches for the signal lights, anchor light, and bilge pump are also covered, which is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.

knots

In this part of the course, you will learn how to tie and use basic but essential nautical knots. We will cover the bowline knot for fenders, and you will also learn the correct method and height for securing fenders. You will also learn about the bowline and figure-eight knots, as well as how to properly tie a boat to a mooring (moringue).

anchoring

A significant portion of the course is devoted to proper anchoring procedures. You will learn how to lower the anchor safely and effectively, and how to respond if the anchor gets snagged. Understanding these procedures is essential for safely and securely anchoring your boat.

docking

This module provides a detailed overview of the process of alongside docking. You will learn the techniques and maneuvers required for safe and precise docking alongside a pier or another vessel, which is one of the most challenging skills in boat handling.

Sailing in rough seas

In this section, you will learn how to handle larger waves and how to cut through them properly to ensure the most comfortable and safe ride possible. Understanding the dynamics of a vessel in rough seas is essential for every captain.

Maritime Rules and Regulations

The final, but no less important, part of the course covers basic maritime rules and regulations. You will learn about speed limits, minimum distances from the shore, areas where navigation is permitted or prohibited, and locations where anchoring is allowed. Knowledge of these rules is essential for safe and responsible boating.
